Inspecting The Head Of Procurement Of Goods And Services For Bekasi City, KPK Explores Alleged Intervention Rahmat Effendi

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating the alleged intervention by the inactive Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi or Pepen related to land determination.

This deepening was carried out by examining the Head of the Procurement of Goods and Services for the City of Bekasi, Agus Harpa. The inspection was conducted on Wednesday, January 26.

"Located at the Red and White Building, the investigation team has examined several witnesses for the suspect RE and friends, namely Agus Harpa, the Head of Procurement of Goods and Services," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri told reporters, Thursday, January 27.

During the inspection, Ali said Agus Harpa was asked for information regarding the determination of land for the project location at the Bekasi City Government, West Java. In that determination, it was suspected that Pepen's intervention had occurred.

"The person concerned was present and confirmed, among others, related to the determination of the land used as the location for the project by the Bekasi City Government, allegedly due to the direction of the suspect RE," he said.

It was previously reported that Rahmat Effendi or Pepen along with eight other people were named by the KPK as suspects for alleged bribery in the procurement of goods and services as well as the auction of positions in the Bekasi City Government. Head of Jatisari Village, Mulyadi; Jatisampurna Sub-district Head, Wahyudin; and Head of the Bekasi City Housing, Settlement and Land Office, Jumhana Lutfi, was named as the recipient of the bribe. Meanwhile, the four suspected givers, namely the Director of PT MAM Energindo, Ali Amril; private party, Lai Bui Min; Director of Bintang Rayatri City, Suryadi; and the Sub-district Head of Rawalumbu, Makhfud Saifudin. In this case, Pepen is suspected of receiving billions of rupiah as a commitment fee from the private sector whose land was acquired for a project belonging to the Bekasi City Government and received compensation. However, he called the money a mosque donation code.

In addition to the bribes above, the KPK revealed that Pepen also received money related to project management and contract labor at the Bekasi City Government in the amount of Rp. 30 million. The money was given by the Director of PT MAM Energindo, Ali Amril and received by the Secretary of the Bekasi City Investment and PTSP Office, M Bunyamin. Furthermore, he received some money from employees at the Bekasi City Government as a reward for their position. However, it did not specify how much money the Golkar Party politician received. However, the money found from the gifts given by the employees was only Rp600 million when the silent operation was carried out. Allegedly, the money already exists which was used in part to meet its operational needs.
