AMBON - The Maluku Provincial Government will facilitate the construction of two security posts permanently to reduce and help resolve conflicts between the residents of Ori and Kariuw Villages on Haruku Island, Central Maluku Regency.
"The provincial government will facilitate the construction of two security posts in the border areas between Ori, Kariuw and Pelauw villages," said Acting Maluku Regional Secretary, Sadli Ie, in Ambon, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 26.
According to him, the construction of the security post was based on orders from the Governor of Maluku, Murad Ismail. Murad previously received input from the head of the Maluku Protestant Church Synod, Pastor Elifas Tomix Maspaitella, the Maluku MUI and various other components.
The security post will be built on the border between Ori-Kariuw Village, while the other one will be on the border between Kariuw-Pelauw Village.
According to him, the Maluku Provincial Government is ready to allocate the budget needed to build the security post, in order to defuse the situation and at the same time support the peace process between people in conflict.
"If necessary, we will build the post tomorrow. Maybe with the presence of this security post, residents, especially women and children, are no longer afraid and are willing to return to their respective villages," he said.
He has also ordered the Maluku Housing and Settlement Areas and Public Works to coordinate the plan to build the post with the security forces so that it can run smoothly and the required budget can be prepared.
In addition, the leaders of the two technical offices were also ordered to take an inventory of the residents' houses as well as public and social facilities that were burned down due to the conflict that started with the boundary issue, so that they could immediately be proposed for rebuilding.
