Johan Budi's Message To The KPK Leaders: There's No Use Giving Anti-Corruption Education If You Don't Do It Yourself

JAKARTA - Member of House of Representatives Commission III of PDI Perjuangan Fraction (PDI-P), Johan Budi, reminded all leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Johan Budi asked Firli Bahuri et al to hold on to integrity.

"My message to the KPK leadership, to the people at the KPK, to me as well, when you teach someone to have integrity, we must first have integrity", said Johan in a working meeting with the KPK at the parliament complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta on Wednesday, January 26th.

The former spokesperson for the KPK also reminded that there is no point in providing anti-corruption education if the KPK leadership does not apply it to themselves.

"There's no point in teaching people, there's no point in giving anti-corruption education if we don't do it ourselves", said Johan.

"So when it comes to integrity, of course, anyone at the KPK must have integrity. That's my message to the leadership and also the people at the KPK", he added.

For information, two KPK leaders have been declared to have violated ethics. They are KPK Chair, Firli Bahuri, and KPK Deputy Chair, Lili Pintauli Siregar.

Firli was declared to have violated the code of ethics because he was caught using a helicopter for his personal interests. Meanwhile, Lili was declared to have violated ethics after communicating with litigants at the KPK, namely the former Tanjungbalai Regent M Syahrial.

As a result of her actions, Lili was even sentenced to severe sanctions in the form of cutting her basic salary by 40 percent for 12 months.
