2 Men Caught Stealing Dozens Of Cigarette Packs In Glenmore Banyuwangi, Almost Beaten By Residents

BANYUWANGI - Two men from Jember with the initials H and MDS were caught stealing 26 packs of cigarettes at a shop in Tegalharjo Village, Glenmore District, Banyuwangi, East Java.

Both of them were almost battered by the residents before being arrested by the police. The head of the Glenmore Police, AKP Basori Alwi, confirmed that his party had arrested two youths suspected of committing the crime of theft.

The results of the examination of the mode of the two tricked the shopkeeper named Saoda (55) by pretending to buy food and coffee.

"At first the two young men went to the stall to order food. Then MDS ordered 7 packets of coffee and they were delivered to their boss," he said, Tuesday, January 25.

Because they have not paid, the shop keeper is suspicious. Saoda also decided to come with MDS to deliver the coffee. The alleged perpetrator H was left alone in the shop.

"Without a clear intention, the shop keeper was left in front of the Karangharjo Village office. MDS returned to the shop to pick up H and took 26 packs of cigarettes in the shop," said AKP Basori.

But when he was about to run away, his actions were caught by residents. There was a chase until the two perpetrators were successfully intercepted. Both of them were mobbed by the mob and almost beaten.

"Luckily at that time the police arrived on time so that the two young men could be arrested. The victim reported the incident to the Glenmore Police for follow-up. From the theft the shop owner claimed to have lost Rp 600 thousand," said AKP Basori.
