National Police Chief Claims Police Deviance To Decrease In 2021

JAKARTA - The National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, claims that irregularities committed by police officers will decrease in 2021. These deviations consist of violations of discipline, professional code of ethics, and criminal acts.

"With details of disciplinary violations, a decrease of 20.67 percent, violations of the KEPP (Police professional code of ethics) decreased by 37.29 percent, and crimes committed by members of the National Police decreased by 18.31 percent", said the National Police Chief at the House of Representatives building, Monday, January 24.

This, according to the National Police Chief, proves that the Police continue to make gradual improvements even though there is still a growing perception in the mass media and social media regarding violations by the police.

General Sigit explained that the National Police had also researched what were the factors of the deviation. Among them, are individual factors and organizational factors.

"To minimize the deviation factor, the National Police will carry out surveillance to the smallest points or the Police Sector so that the implementation of National Police duties can run well", he said.

He emphasized that the National Police is also committed to taking firm action against those who transparently commit irregularities. Because he said, these elements have harmed institutions and the positive achievements that have been made by other colleagues.

"Members who work well will receive rewards with indicators that we have determined", said the National Police Chief.
