TNI Commander Ensures 35 Soldiers' Legal Cases Continue

JAKARTA - The Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General TNI Andika Perkasa, has ensured that the 35 legal cases that have ensnared TNI (Army) soldiers will continue to be carried out thoroughly and he will oversee them directly.

"In general, there are 35 legal issues for TNI soldiers that are currently the focus of our attention", said TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa at the House of Representatives Commission I Working Meeting, quoted by Antara, Monday, January 24.

However, he did not explain in detail the 35 legal cases that ensnared the TNI soldiers.

Andika confirmed that he would directly oversee the 35 legal cases so that the process runs completely.

"So in this 'slide' of exposure there are only about 17 but actually we have 30-35 legal issues that we will continue to monitor", he said.

The working meeting of the Indonesia House of Representatives Commission I was chaired by the Deputy Chair of the House of Representatives Commission I, Abdul Kharis Almasyhari, together with the two Deputy Chairs of the House of Representatives Commission I, Utut Adianto and Anton Sukartono.

The TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa ensured that the 35 legal cases that ensnared the TNI soldiers would continue to run thoroughly and he would oversee them directly. The TNI Commander was accompanied by the Chief of Army Staff, General TNI Dudung Abdurahman, Chief of the Navy Staff, TNI Admiral Yudo Margono, and Air Force Chief of Staff, Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo.

The working meeting discussed several points, including the achievement of the 2021 TNI MEF program targets; TNI scenarios on security dynamics in the South China Sea and the Indo Pacific; developments in the handling of legal cases for TNI soldiers; TNI's strategy and approach in solving problems in Papua and West Papua.
