19 Houses On Buluh Island, Batam, Burned Down

BATAM - A total of 19 houses in two RTs on Buluh Island, Batam City, Riau Islands caught fire.

"There were 19 houses burned, 15 houses in RT 04 and four houses in RT 05", said Batam City Fire Department Head Azman, quoted by Antara on Friday, January 21.

Of the 19 houses that burned, 11 of them were heavily damaged. The Head of the Service confirmed that there were no casualties in the disaster on the buffer island.

He said that as soon as he got the news, his party immediately sailed to the island by deploying a portable pump to extinguish the fire.

His party was also assisted by several ships around Buluh Island, as well as the local community to extinguish the fire.

"Now it is extinguished. We have also handed over the handover to the police chief there", he said.

Until now, his party did not know the source of the fire that hit 22 families with 75 people.

Meanwhile, from the video shared by residents, it appears that fires occurred in houses above the sea, most of which were made of wood.

Several residents also seemed busy salvaging home furnishings to avoid the raging fire.
