COVID-19 Update As Of January 21: New Cases Soared To Increase By 2,604, Active Cases 14,119

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 292,405 specimens were examined with the result of 2,604 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulated positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 4,280,248 people and active cases have increased by 1,791 to 14,119 cases", said Ministry of Health data on Friday, January 21.

Today's recovered cases increased by 811 cases, bringing the total to 4,121,928 recovered people. Then, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 2 people and the total was 144,201 people.

The province with the highest new cases was DKI Jakarta with 1,484 cases and a total of 875,743 cases. Followed by West Java with 505 new cases with a total of 711,213 cases. Banten has 340 new cases and a total of 134,542 cases. Then, East Java with 92 new cases and a total of 400,649 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 655 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an increase of 40 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 27 recovered cases, and West Java with an additional 26 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens has reached 68,819,737.

"Positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week was 0.38 percent", it wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or currently categorized as suspected cases is 5,896 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

To date, 180,021,654 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 123,167,273 people have received the second dose of vaccination.

While the third dose of vaccination was 1,357,642. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
