The Case Of Two Pickpocket Groups At The Mandalika Circuit Will Soon Be Tried

MATARAM - The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Police stated that the handling of two pickpocket cases that occurred during the 2021 World Superbike (WSBK) event at the Mandalika Circuit had been completed.

"Because the (file) has been declared complete and the second stage (delegation of suspects and evidence) has been carried out by investigators, so we declare that the handling of the case is complete with the police," said Head of Public Relations of the NTB Police, Kombes Artanto, quoted by Antara, Friday, January 21.

The two pickpocket cases that were successfully uncovered thanks to the cooperation of the local community and the police consisted of eight suspects.

Artanto said the two cases were in the same location, but at different times. He also revealed that the two cases came from two different pickpocket groups.

For the first case with a group consisting of four people from Jakarta with the initials DC (46), husband from LA (41), along with their daughter, DA (24), and their neighbor, AW (33), transferred to the public prosecutor, Wednesday, January 12.

The four suspects were handed over with case evidence in the form of three cell phones, which were allegedly the result of pickpockets and the clothes of the suspects during their actions.

Meanwhile, the Director of General Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) of the NTB Polda Kombes Hari Brata said the four suspects had picked up the pickpocket on the last day of the WSBK implementation, Sunday, November 21, 2021.

"The location is (pickpocket) food booth 'gate' 3 in the Mandalika Circuit area," said Hari Brata.

Likewise for the second case, which consists of four suspects, namely AZ (50), from Central Jakarta, FS (57), from West Bandung Regency, MY (38), from Pematang Siantar, and a woman with the initials M (34), from Jakarta. Timur, has been declared complete and has been transferred to the public prosecutor.

"This second group was delegated last Wednesday (19/1) to the public prosecutor of the Central Lombok Kejari," he said.

The four were handed over along with evidence of clothing used by the perpetrators during the action and cash allegedly from selling the victim's cellphone.

"So this second group took action on the second day of the WSBK implementation, Saturday (20/11). The location is in the parking area east of the Mandalika Circuit," said Hari.

Furthermore, in the case file, the suspects from these two groups of pickpockets are suspected of being criminally charged with Article 363 Paragraph 1 4 of the Juncto Criminal Code Article 64 of the Juncto Criminal Code Article 55 Paragraph 1 of the Juncto Criminal Code Article 56 of the Criminal Code.
