MAGELANG - Mayor of Magelang, Central Java, Muchamad Nur Aziz handed over cash assistance worth Rp. 1 million for the operation of the Veterans Legion of the Republic of Indonesia (LVRI) cash and exemption from PDAM water fees for veterans in the area.

"In addition, the Magelang City Government will try to eliminate land and building tax (PBB) for Magelang City veterans," he said in a press release in Magelang, Antara, Thursday, January 20.

He conveyed this during a visit to the LVRI office in Magelang City in commemoration of LVRI's 65th Anniversary with the theme "The Indonesian Veterans Legion Together with Other National Powers are Ready to Support and Secure National Development, Especially in Overcoming the COVID-19 Pandemic".

Aziz said that his presence at LVRI is a form of devotion to veterans who have become witnesses and actors in the history of the Indonesian nation. "This is the umpteenth time I want to serve my friends, I will fulfill my promise and I will obey," he said.

He is committed to guarding the assistance that has been provided by the Magelang City Government so that it is not just a formality. The appreciation for the heroes is still lacking even though they have risked their lives against the invaders.

"LVRI will be assisted by the Magelang City Government. I am sure that if the government understands who a hero is, it will pay more attention to the heroes. This is in line with the current Magelang City Government program which focuses on empowering the community and facilitating services," he said.

Head of LVRI Magelang City Saebani expressed his gratitude to the Magelang City Government for paying attention to veterans.

"We express our gratitude to the Mayor of Magelang for being willing to attend this activity. He has also provided assistance which for us is an honor in itself," he said.
