KIPI Heavy During COVID Vaccination In Cianjur, 2 Paralyzed Residents And 1 Child Died

CIANJUR - The Cianjur District Health Office in West Java Province recorded three severe post-immunization follow-up events (AEFI) during the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination.

Secretary of the Cianjur District Health Office, Yusman Faisal, said that during the COVID-19 vaccination, two people were paralyzed. While after undergoing vaccination one person died a few days after receiving the vaccine injection.

According to him, two adults from Bojongpicung and Mande sub-districts who had been paralyzed for several months after receiving the vaccine had recovered after receiving medical treatment.

"Meanwhile, another case happened to a school-age child in Pasirkuda District. After undergoing treatment the student died. The case has been reported to National Commission for Post-Immunization Adverse Events (Komnas KIPI) to find out the exact cause", said Yusman in Cianjur, Antara on Thursday, January 20.

"National Commission for Post-Immunization Adverse Events (Komnas KIPI) has not released the results of its assessment, so we can't confirm either. However, it has been reported as an AEFI finding, including the latest one in Pasirkuda District", he added.

Yusman emphasized that the incidence of severe AEFIs was very small compared to the number of people who were vaccinated. Therefore, he asked residents not to be afraid to undergo vaccination.

"Don't be afraid to get vaccinated, as long as you are checked and tracked by health workers and diligently for health checks, the vaccinations you get will not have a serious impact", he said.
