JAKARTA - The Governor of East Java (East Java) Khofifah Indar Parawansa ensured that the supply of cooking oil is still safe for the next six months, following the current government has provided 250 million liters of cooking oil every month.

"The government has also implemented a one-price policy for packaged cooking oil at a price of Rp. 14,000/liter," he said during an inspection at a number of retail stores in Sidoarjo, Thursday, January 20, as reported by Antara.

He said people don't need to panic to buy so they try to buy as much cooking oil as they can in retail stores.

Khofifah said that the one-price cooking oil policy was a continued effort by the government to ensure the availability of cooking oil at affordable prices.

"The goal is to fulfill the needs of households as well as ultra micro and micro business actors," he said.

He said the supply of cooking oil at one price is done through modern retailers who are members of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo). Meanwhile, traditional markets are given one week to make adjustments.

“Purchasing is indeed limited so that the distribution can be evenly distributed. So we ask the public to be able to understand and buy only according to their needs or needs," he said.

The East Java Provincial Government itself has poured 75 thousand liters of cooking oil for market operations in a number of areas. The price of cooking oil is added by the provincial government subsidies at several points so that it is only priced at Rp. 12 thousand for a 1 liter package.

"This step is taken to maintain people's purchasing power and stabilize cooking oil prices in East Java Province," he said.

He hopes that the intervention to stabilize cooking oil prices from the central government can stabilize the selling price of cooking oil for the general public. The East Java Provincial Government, continued Khofifah, will continue to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of this program in the field.

“Hopefully in the near future the price of cooking oil can be fully stabilized. Moreover, we will soon enter the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr," he said.

Meanwhile, from the results of field inspections of a number of retail stores in Sidoarjo, Khofifah said the supply of cooking oil was sufficient at a standard price of Rp. 14 thousand/liter. Also, with prices that have adjusted to the price standards set by the government for any brand.

"Only yesterday there was a purchase in large quantities so some were out of stock. But last night it was back in supply so it was safe," he said.
