Price IDR 14,000 / Liter, Hundreds Of Cooking Oils At The Palembang Market Sold Out Fast

JAKARTA - The City Government of Palembang, South Sumatra held a low-cost cooking oil market operation at a price of IDR 14,000 per liter to control the increase in the price of one of the basic necessities.

The market operation to help the community meet the needs of cooking oil, which now costs more than IDR 19,000/kg, was held at the Sekip Ujung Palembang traditional market, Wednesday, led by Deputy Mayor of Palembang, Fitrianti Agustinda.

Within two hours hundreds of packages of cooking oil in 1 liter packages were purchased by residents to meet household needs and for the food business.

Fitrianti said, to ease the burden on the community and control the increase in cooking oil prices and other basic needs, her party held a low-cost cooking oil market operation for two weeks until the end of January 2022.

"Recently, the price of cooking oil has continued to move up, to control a larger increase and burden the community, it is necessary to carry out low-cost market operations", she said on January 19, as reported by Antara.

The operation of the cheap cooking oil market was held in a number of residential areas and traditional markets.

She explained that currently the price of cooking oil is quite high, ranging from IDR 19,000 to IDR 22,000 per pack of 1 kg/liter, whereas in normal conditions it is around IDR 14,000/kg.

Through the operation of a cheap cooking oil market held in collaboration with the Palembang City Trade Office with the South Sumatra Provincial Trade Office and PT Indokarya Internusa, residents can buy packaged cooking oil at quite affordable prices.

"This activity is expected to help the residents of this city fulfill one of their basic needs at affordable prices and the increase in the price of cooking oil and other goods can be controlled and return to normal", said Deputy Mayor of Palembang.
