Record KAI's Promise, Jabodebek LRT Operates August 2022

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Didiek Hartantyo said the Jabodebek Integrated Highway (LRT) train project is targeted to be operational starting in August 2022.

"The operation of the Jabodebek LRT is targeted to start in August 2022, which will then be fully operational using Grade of Automation (GoA) level 3 by the end of 2022," said KAI (Persero) President Director Didiek during the discussion on the Jabodebek LRT Operational Preparation in Jakarta, Wednesday 19 January.

Didiek explained that the Jabodebek LRT will be operated using the Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) system with GoA level 3.

The CBTC system is a communication-based train operation, so that the system can operate trains and project schedules automatically, and also be controlled automatically from the operation control center.

Meanwhile, GoA level 3 is the level of automation of train operations where the operation is carried out automatically without a driver, but requires that there are still operational officers in the train for handling emergency conditions and serving customers.

"This is the first railway project in Indonesia to operate driverless, where it is the leading technology in the railway system signaling sector," he said as quoted by Antara.

He continued, the total investment in the construction of the project, which began in 2015, currently reaches Rp. 32.5 trillion.

Didiek said that his party will apply the basic tariff for the Jabodebek LRT of Rp. 15 thousand

He hopes that the presence of the Jabodebek LRT can become an efficient and modern alternative mode of mass transportation.

"It is hoped that it will be able to reduce congestion, emissions, use of fuel and save travel time. Besides that, it will also encourage economic growth," he concluded.
