High Waves In North Lombok Strait, BMKG Urges Fishermen In NTB Not To Go To Sea, It's Dangerous

NTB - Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Meteorological Station Zaenudin Abdul Majid Praya appealed to fishermen not to go to sea because of extreme weather in the form of high waves in the northern and southern Lombok straits of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

"This is all for the safety of fishermen in NTB, so they don't go to sea," said BMKG Prakirawan Zaenudin Abdul Majid Praya NTB, M Alfiansyah in his written statement in Praya, Antara, Wednesday, January 19.

The BMKG also appealed to people on the coast to be aware of the potential for wave heights of up to 2 meters or more in the northern and southern parts of the Lombok Strait, the southern part of the Alas Strait, the South Indian Ocean of West Nusa Tenggara and the southern part of the Sape Strait.

"Residents who live and work on the coast of the West Nusa Tenggara region must remain vigilant about the impact of high waves that will occur," he said.

The BMKG also issued an early warning to be aware of the potential for moderate to heavy rain that can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in the areas of Mataram City, West Lombok Regency, Central Lombok, North Lombok, East Lombok, West Sumbawa, Sumbawa, Bima, Bima City, and Dompu.

"Beware of heavy rain accompanied by lightning during the day, night and early morning," he said.
