SOUTH TANGERANG - A COVID-19 survivor shared his story after recovering from the Omicron variant. Call him T, initials, he admitted that he only felt symptoms of flu or Influenza and coughed while contracting the virus.

"It's just like the flu, you don't cough until you have shortness of breath," said T at the South Tangerang Covid Fighting House (RLC), Wednesday, January 19.

T told me that he was first exposed to the Omicron variant, since Thursday, January 6. At that time, he felt symptoms such as dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) so he decided to go to the nearest clinic to ask for a prescription for his illness.

However, because of the illness he felt did not go away. So he decided to go to the Hermina hospital, South Tangerang.

"So to the clinic to get medicine home, the fever has healed, but the headache is still there. Then I said how come it didn't get better, then finally I went to the ER at the Hermina hospital, and there, I checked it first, it turned out that the swab result was positive for COVID," he said.

On that occasion, T admitted that he was surprised how he could be exposed to Omicron. However, he did not go abroad. Even as long as he works, he only works from home (WFH).

"No, it's just been traced, I just eat normally on Teras Kota, I don't go anywhere, I also WFH and haven't been to the office since the end of the year," he said.

After being declared COVID-19 of the Omicron variant, he was immediately taken to RLC, Serpong, South Tangerang. In order to avoid a wider spread.

"About 10 days I isolated here (RLC)," he said.

The Mayor of South Tangerang, Benyamin Davnie, admitted that in his area there was an increase in cases of COVID-19, the Omicron variant. He said the number of people exposed had increased by two patients, bringing the total to 7 people.

“There are now seven confirmed cases of Omicron. There are reports, there are two additional cases," Benjamin told reporters, Tuesday, January 18.

Benjamin also said the case came from a local transmission. He emphasized that the Omicron patient was not a foreign traveler (PPLN). This was proven by whole genome sequencing (WGS).

"It's a local transmission," he explained.
