Starting With The Sound Of Explosions, Four Houses In Jambi Burned Down

JAMBI - Four houses consisting of three rented bunkhouses and one semi-permanent house were burned to the ground in RT 13, Payo Lebar Village, Jelutung District, Jambi City, there were no casualties in the incident and only material losses.

Ijal, one of the witnesses, said that the fire came from behind one of the beds at around 14:15 western Indonesia time, and there was also the sound of an explosion.

Efforts to extinguish the fire are a challenge for firefighters because the location of the house is behind the shophouse and can only be passed by motorbikes, so they have to use a hose long enough to extinguish the fire.

"The fire came from behind one of the beds, when we knew the fire was already heavy," said Ijal, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 19.

Ijal explained that he could not save his property because he was trying to save a father, a Muslim, who was in the house with a stroke.

"I don't think about property anymore, Sir, I saved my Father, I pulled his mattress out of the house because he was sick, he couldn't walk," he said.

Meanwhile, Yanti, one of the victims, said she did not know exactly where the fire came from, but at the time of the incident, she told her husband why the house was so hot, even though the fan was on.

"When I woke up, the fire was huge," she said.

As a result of the incident, she could not save her property, because the fire was too big.

"Nothing was salvaged, only clothes stuck to the body," she said.

The fire was successfully extinguished by Jambi City Firefighters at around 16.21 western Indonesia time by deploying several units of a fleet of fire cars.

After being extinguished, the fire victims were seen scavenging the floor of the burned house looking for a place to store treasures in the form of gold and money in the ground and managed to find IDR 15 million in cash and IDR 50 million worth of gold belonging to one of the fire victims.
