Tuan Guru Bajang: Contribution Of Islamic Organizations Presence Before The Existence Of The State Of Indonesia

MATARAM - Chairman of PB Nahdlatul Wathan Diniyyah Islamiyah (NWDI) Tuan Guru Bajang (TGB), HM Zainul Majdi, invites Muslims to open their eyes to see the importance of their role in advancing the nation.

"The contribution of Islamic organizations came before the existence of the Indonesian state," said TGB, during a national webinar with the theme "Strategic Contribution of Islamic Organizations to the Nation and State" which is part of the First NWDI Conference, Antara on Tuesday, January 18.

This discussion about Islamic organizations said TGB, as he is familiarly called, is not meant to be proud, but to provide an overview to the public about the role of Islamic organizations for Indonesia in the future.

The role of Islamic organizations after Indonesia was born, continued TGB, was not only talking about Islam and nationality but also providing benefits and many benefits for the people.

He gave an example of the establishment of NWDI long before the independence period around 1937. NWDI as a forum to build and print generations to become cadres, not just for religion, but for the nation.

"It was very visionary when the founder of NWDI Maulanasyaikh TGKH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid opened the first madrasa and named it Nahdlatul Wathan Diniyyah Islamiyah," he said.

The National Hero from NTB, according to TGB, designed Nahdlah (unity). Not only Islamiyah but also the unity of the state or Wathaniyah which is the point of pressure.

Furthermore, TGB explained, Islamic organizations were born earlier, such as Syarikat Islam, Nahdlatul Ulama, Muhammadiyah, Al Irsyad, Persis, Al Wasliyah, and Al Khairat, were different in each period, but Islamic organizations did not lose their orientation.

"Not losing direction, being able to adapt to situations, before and after independence. The government has a different approach," said the former Governor of NTB for two terms.

This, admitted by TGB, is a concrete practice and part of the wisdom is positive adaptability so that changes in the strategic environment can be responded to properly.

"So that Islamic organizations continue to contribute and give the best for the nation and state," he said.

Present at this webinar were Muslim Scholar Prof H Azyumardi Azra, Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque Prof H Nazaruddin Umar, academic Prof H Jamaluddin and Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey Dr. Lalu Muhammad Iqbal.
