Sandi Uno Invites Tourism Villages To Maximize Potential To Make It More Advanced

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno invites tourist villages to innovate to maximize the potential of natural resources (SDA) and the creative economy.

Sandiaga said several tourism product innovations were combining various potentials such as ecotourism, nature tourism, and nature eco wellness adventure into tour packages.

"All of these are tourism product innovations that will develop quickly and become a new mainstream in the tourism industry," said Sandiaga.

Sandi decided on a more complete tour package to capture shifts in tourist preferences.

He said the shift in tourist tendencies could take the form of product innovation (package innovation) for tourism, such as activities carried out online and offline (hybrid events), virtual tours, and private picnic packages.

Furthermore, Sandiaga said that an area must identify its strengths to maximize the potential of natural resources.

For example, Magelang Regency maximizes the potential of the seven mountains in the area, Borobudur Temple, and several destinations including the culinary sector.

“Here (Magelang) is one of the best coffee producers in the country. I tried Pawon luwak coffee earlier and it tasted amazing, so that's what I have to build on," he said.

Then, tourism actors are also required to be able to adapt in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, such as utilizing the concept of Domestic Micro Tourism (Domestic Micro Tourism).

This is done because in the new normal tourism era, the tourism sector must be able to take advantage of tourists who are around certain tourist destinations. He asked various parties to collaborate in tourism development efforts.

"Investors may invest, but the public must also feel the results," said Sandi.

More than that, Sandiaga hopes that the tourism sector has more than six times the power of other sectors in finding employment.

"For that, invest in tourism, invest in the creative economy," he said.
