JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) will control some of the slums around the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), especially along the railroad tracks.
"It's true, the slum area next to JIS belongs to PT KAI and will be controlled," said PT KAI's Head of Public Relations Eva Chairunisa when contacted, Tuesday, January 18.
Currently, KAI is collecting data on residents who will be subject to enforcement together with the North Jakarta City Government, Satpol PP, and the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.
"We are collaborating with the city government, apart from being done for safety and security, it is also for environmental order around JIS," said Eva.
Meanwhile, regarding the solution for resettlement for affected residents, including the location of the transfer destination, Eva said it would be regulated by the North Jakarta City Government.
"Regarding the solution for housing, we will ask the City Government (Jakut)," he said.
Previously, PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) BUMD JIS Project Manager Arry Wibowo said that the improvement of slum villages and the handling of local residents affected by the JIS construction project had to be carried out.
However, said Arry, the responsibility for revamping the village does not only fall to the DKI Provincial Government.
Currently, Arry said the DKI Provincial Government has handled around 600 families who previously lived in the southern area of the JIS area. Meanwhile, handling on the north side is the responsibility of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI).
"The north side is actually not the domain of the provincial government, Jakpro, but it is purely the property of PT KAI," said Arry.
Therefore, he said the emprov DKI continued to coordinate with PT KAI to immediately resolve the problem together with a number of parties.
"Actually, we want to invite PT KAI to jointly carry out treatment for the residents who currently occupy it, especially on the sides of the railroad tracks. Although, the number of their families is far less in the JIS area," he explained.
