Deputy Governor Riza Affirms, 11 Schools Closed Not Because of Exposure to Omicron Variants

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria confirmed that 11 schools in Jakarta were exposed to COIVID-19, not the Omicron variant.

"To this day, 11 schools have been exposed to COVID-19. Not Omicron, once again, not Omicron," said Riza Patria, quoting Antara, Saturday, January 15.

Riza said, from the 11 schools there were 14 students and educators who were exposed to COVID-19.

For this reason, his party has temporarily closed PTM activities at the 11 schools for five days.

Meanwhile, other schools, he continued, are still conducting PTM with a capacity of 100 percent.

The number of education units from Kindergarten to Senior High School, Vocational High School, and the equivalent participating in PTM with 100 percent capacity in Jakarta reached 10,429 schools.

Observing the low number of exposures, the DKI Provincial Government has no intention of closing all schools that implement 100 percent PTM.

The reason is, in addition to the low level of exposure, it is also because DKI meets the requirements to implement 100 percent PTM according to the joint decree (SKB) of the four ministers.

The conditions that DKI fulfills include schools that carry out 100 percent regional PTM with PPKM level one or level two.

Then second, the achievement of vaccination for educators and students is above 80 percent and the elderly are above 50 percent.

"Meanwhile, in DKI Jakarta, education staff has 89 percent of vaccines, 91 percent of educators, 79 percent of seniors, 98 percent of students. So DKI is very qualified," said Riza.
