PKS Spokesperson Criticizes Discussion Of The Bill On The New State Capital At The DPR Is Inconsiderate

JAKARTA - Spokesman for the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Pipin Sopian criticized the DPR regarding the discussion of the State Capital Bill (IKN). According to him, the discussion of the IKN Bill in the DPR seemed reckless because the involvement of public participation was very small.

"We regret that the discussion of the IKN Bill in the Special Committee of the DPR has been reckless," said Pipin Sopian in a press statement, Friday, January 14. reminded that the discussion of the IKN Bill should not be rushed. "We emphasize that PKS's stance is that it rejects the IKN Bill because it substantially violates the 1945 Constitution, risks threatening the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, increases debt and adds to the burden on the state budget," he said. but there has been a level II decision making and the schedule has been proposed at the Plenary Meeting (Rapur) on January 18, 2022.

"The leadership of the Special Committee wants to target Monday, January 17, to have made a decision on the first level at the Special Committee, and the next day it will be immediately brought to the Rapur," he said.

Previously, the Special Committee for the Draft Law on the National Capital City (Pansus RUU IKN) of the DPR RI held a Working Committee (Panja) meeting to hear reports from the formulation team (timus) and the synchronization team (timsin) on Thursday, January 13.

The IKN bill is targeted to be passed at the DPR Plenary Meeting on Tuesday, January 18, next.

DPR chairman Puan Maharani said that currently she admitted that she was waiting for the results of the discussion of the Special Committee for the DPR's IKN Bill with the government regarding the articles set forth in the IKN draft bill.

"We are just waiting to see how the DPR (Pansus RUU IKN) will discuss with the government, whether there is a mutual agreement, in the sense that the articles that will be agreed upon are indeed in line with our expectations," said Puan.
