Police Arrest 2 Drug Dealers In Tarakan, 1 Kg Of Sabu Confiscated

TARAKAN - The Tarakan Police Narcotics Investigation Unit Team, North Kalimantan (Kaltara) secured one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine ready for distribution from two suspects with the initials AN (33) and SU (27).

"Two suspects were arrested on December 23, 2021 with evidence of methamphetamine which is planned to be circulated in Tarakan and East Kalimantan," said Tarakan Police Chief AKBP Taufik Nurmandia as quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 13.

The distribution of methamphetamine was revealed because of information from the public regarding crystal methamphetamine transactions at a hotel on Jalan Yos Sudarso, Selumit Village, Central Tarakan.

Furthermore, the Tarakan Police Narcotics Team went directly to the scene at around 21.00 WITA and arrested the suspect AN.

During the search, four packages of used methamphetamine, yellow duct tape and a cell phone were found.

After the examination, it was discovered that the location of the methamphetamine was hidden in AN's house in Juata Kerikil Village.

"In the house there was a person with the initials SU who was also involved. During a search, one kilogram of methamphetamine was found which was stored in the speaker," said Taufik.

According to the confessions of suspects AN and SU, some of the crystal methamphetamine will be sent to East Kalimantan and partly circulated in Tarakan.

"The two perpetrators also tested positive for methamphetamine, where one of the suspects, AN, was a drug recidivist," said the police chief.

This evidence of methamphetamine was purchased from Malaysia. Both have been detained at the Polres for further development.

The two suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph 1 of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a minimum prison sentence of 5 years and a maximum of 20 years.
