Village Head, Benur Entrepreneur And Police Defendant In The Drug Party Case In Banyuwangi Sentenced To 6 Months Of Rehabilitation

BANYUWANGI - Village head, fried fish businessman, police member accused of drug party case were sentenced to 6 months of rehabilitation. This decision was knocked down by the panel of judges at the Banyuwangi District Court, East Java.

The three defendants were the village head with the initials MM, the fried fish businessman with the initials WW and the police officers with the initials RA.

The Banyuwangi District Court judge did not grant the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU). The Public Prosecutor's Office previously charged the police with the initials R with article 112 of the Drug Law, in contrast to the two defendants WW and MM who were charged with article 127.

The attorney for the three defendants, Eko Sutrisno said the judge's decision was very fair by rejecting the prosecutor's claim against defendant R who was charged with Article 112 of the Criminal Code, which carries a sentence of 4 years in prison, in contrast to the two defendants WW and MM who were charged with Article 127 with a threat of 1 year in prison.

"The article that was suspected by the prosecutor against Defendant R was a rubber article, so the judge concluded that a member of Police R was found guilty and sentenced to Article 127 to undergo a 6-month rehabilitation period," said Eko Sutrisno, Wednesday, January 12.

According to him, with the verdict, the three defendants in the shabu party case only have eight days of rehabilitation left.

"If the Public Prosecutor does not appeal, the three defendants who have been sentenced to 6 months of rehabilitation, and have undergone almost 6 months of rehabilitation, if we count, there are only 8 days left. The Banyuwangi District Court judge's decision is in accordance with our defense and we accept the decision " he said.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor is still thinking about the judge's verdict. Consideration of appeal or not is determined within 7 days.

"We thought that we still had 7 days to file an appeal or not," said the Head of Public Prosecutor's Office for Banyuwangi, Edrus.
