PPP Politicians Ask KSAD General Dudung To Approach All Ulama, Including Radicals

JAKARTA - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission I, Syaifullah Tamliha, hopes that the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Dudung Abdurachman does not impose double standards on the ulama. General Dudung must establish good relations with all ulama, including his approach to radical clerics.

"The important thing is that General Dudung does not carry out double standards against the ulama, all must be approached as a good relationship between the ulama and umara. This includes radical scholars so that there is mutual understanding in maintaining the diversity and integrity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia," said Tamliha quoted from Antara, Tuesday, January 11. .

He assessed that establishing friendship with all scholars was very important in building togetherness for the sake of the establishment of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). According to him, it is possible for radical ulama to take a special approach as part of the deradicalization program.

"There is nothing wrong if we invite elements of this nation (radicals) in the right direction," he said.

Tamliha said that every year the TNI always gets the best level of trust from the community, so Kasad must maintain that rank in the TNI AD.

According to the PPP politician, visits to Islamic community organizations (ormas) have always been carried out by all senior TNI officials from the past until now.

Therefore, he advised General Dudung not to double standards against the ulama, so that all should be approached.

Previously, the Army Chief of Staff (Kasad) General TNI Dudung Abdurachman during a visit to the working area of Kodam I/Bukit Barisan took the time to meet one of the great clerics of North Sumatra Buya Amiruddin in Medan, Monday (3/1).

General Dudung also visited Muhammadiyah and PBNU leaders and will recruit prospective soldiers from among the santri.
