Warning, Mayor Mohammad Idris Calls 6 Depok Residents Exposed To Omicron Variant

DEPOK - Depok Mayor Mohammad Idris said six of his residents were exposed to the Omicron variant. The exposed residents came from abroad and the Middle East as well as from the Puncak area, Bogor Regency.

"They have been quarantined at Wisma Athletes and have not returned to Depok," said Mohammad Idris in his statement in Depok, Antara, Monday, January 10.

Mohammad Idris said most of those who were confirmed to have the Omicron variant had just returned from abroad and were undergoing centralized isolation at the COVID-19 Emergency Hospital (RSDC) Wisma Atlet Kemayoran, Jakarta.

"I ask for all instructions at the direction of the minister, all of the omicron species are isolated in Wisma Atlet. So, no one goes to the regions," he explained.

Idris also asked the lurah and sub-district heads to invite their citizens to cooperate with the Depok City Government (Pemkot) regarding the implementation of tracing or tracking COVID-19. Especially, to those who have close contact with COVID-19 patients with the Omicron variant.

"Pak lurah and sub-district head, please remind residents to cooperate with us. Often residents don't want to cooperate with us when asked for their ID cards and KK. Please take firm action by friends of the Health Office when tracing close contacts from the Omicron COVID-19 case," he explained.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the COVID-19 Task Force, Dadang Wihana, said that in this case, the city government will issue a circular from the mayor.

Dadang added that the city government will kick off the booster vaccination. The kick off booster vaccination will take place on January 12, 2022. "This booster vaccination kick off for the elderly or vulnerable groups," he said
