Land Clearing Part Of The Location Of The Semeru Eruption Shelter In Lumajang Waiting For Chili Harvest

SURABAYA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa said the process of clearing land and compacting some temporary shelter locations (huntara) for residents affected by the hot clouds from Mount Semeru in Sumbermujur Village, Lumajang Regency, is waiting for the chili harvest period.

"Of the 81 hectares that will be used, some still have to wait for the chili harvest, then land clearing and compaction will be carried out," said Khofifah in Surabaya, quoted by Antara, Friday, January 7.

Until now, the land clearing and compaction process in Candipuro District has covered an area of 40 hectares, so the rest will be done in the near future.

"This chili plant belongs to local residents. So the process is waiting for the harvest first, after that the work will be carried out," he said.

In addition, he said, permanent housing (huntap) will also be built in the same place after the initial construction of the temporary shelters is completed.

The shelters and huntaps that will be built are Type 60 houses, namely the shelters will be built at the back of the plot with a building area of 6 x 4 meters, while the huntap will be built in the front plot with a size of 6 x 6 meters.

"If the shelter is complete, then the huntap is built. When the huntap is finished, the kitchen or additional hunting rooms are added. So, nothing is wasted," said Khofifah.

The total land to be used for shelters and shelters has an area of 81 hectares with a capacity of 2,000 housing units equipped with public facilities, educational facilities, social facilities and economic facilities.

"The location is also not far from the village, so it will be integrated with the residents who are already there," said the number one person in the East Java Provincial Government.

The initial stage will be built as many as 1,500 housing units, the process of which is the fastest one month and two months at the latest.

There are several proposed names for the shelters and shelters, such as BSD or Bumi Semeru Damai, then "Smart Village" to "Smart City".

"Mr. Dandim as Dansatgas proposed BSD, then Mr. Regent of Lumajang Thoriqul Haq proposed 'Smart Village'. But because there are various facilities for various services, GOR to lakes can even become 'Smart City'," said Khofifah.
