Sahroni's Chances Of Winning In DKI Jakarta Gubernatorial Election Are Small, Observer: NasDem Must Promote Ministerial Level Cagub

JAKARTA - The NasDem Party has publicly stated that it will nominate its cadres in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada contestation. There are three names proposed by the party created by Surya Paloh.

Among them, the General Treasurer of the NasDem DPP Ahmad Sahroni, the Head of Health Okky Asokawati, and the Regional Secretary of the DKI NasDem DPW Wibi Andrino.

Of these names, the most widely discussed by the public is Ahmad Sahroni. The reason is, lately he is known as crazy rich Priok. Political communication observer at Esa Unggul University, M. Jamiluddin Ritonga, assesses that two names, namely Sahroni and Okky, are relatively well known nationally. Especially for Sahroni, he became known to the public after Anies Baswedan was appointed as Chairman of the Formula E Committee.

However, according to Jamiluddin, the electability of Sahroni and Okky from several survey institutions has not yet emerged. This means, he said, they have practically no electability at the moment.

"So, if Sahroni and Okky are promoted by NasDem, it seems that they will win in the 2024 DKI Pilgub contestation. Sahroni and Okky will find it difficult to compete with candidates from other parties with better popularity and electability," said Jamiluddin to VOI, Friday, January 7.

Even so, continued Jamiluddin, the opportunity for Sahroni and Okky remains if NasDem prepares them in a planned manner from now on. Through the right strategy, he said, these two figures still have value to sell.

"Moreover, if Sahroni succeeds in implementing Formula E, his name will certainly skyrocket. Sahroni will be praised by the people of Jakarta as high as the sky," said Jamiluddin. On the other hand, Jamiluddin added, if the event is not successful, Sahroni's name will automatically sink. This will close his chances in the 2024 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election.

"Hopefully the next candidate for governor of DKI Jakarta will be at least the caliber of Anies Baswedan. Because the governor of DKI Jakarta should be at the ministerial level," explained Jamiluddin.

"The problem is, are Sahroni and Okky at the ministerial level? If not, then NasDem should bring in another one so that opportunities are still open," he said.
