Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi Arrests KPK, Kang Emil: Remember, Integrity First Fortress, Serve Then Professional

BANDUNG - West Java Governor M Ridwan Kamil is also concerned about the news that the Mayor of Bekasi, Rahmat Effendi, was caught in a sting operation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Kang Emil as he is familiarly called, admitted that he did not know the legal status of Rahmat Effendi after yesterday's OTT. They will continue to monitor developments.

"We are currently investigating the complete news, I don't know the legal situation yet. However, I am also concerned about the news of the Bekasi mayor's OTT by the KPK," said Ridwan Kamil in his official statement, reported by Antara, Thursday, January 6.

Kang Emil emphasized that whatever his legal status in the future, he ensured that public services in Bekasi City would not be disrupted. The deputy mayor of Bekasi has also guaranteed that public services will be normal as usual.

"We make sure that public services in Bekasi City are not disrupted. We have also contacted the deputy mayor to ensure that services are guaranteed," he said.

The West Java Provincial Government continues to be committed that the eradication of corruption continues to be enforced. Last month, the KPK even gave an award to the West Java Provincial Government for preventing corruption. "But there are things that are beyond our expectations," said Kang Emil.

He hoped that all regional heads, as well as ASN in West Java, would take lessons from the incident.

Kang Emil asked everyone to focus on work and not to violate ethics. According to him, integrity must be prioritized, then serve and be professional.
