No Ambition To Become A Governor, Riza Patria Just Wants To Be A Deputy Governor Again

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, is ready if asked to take part in the contestation of the DKI Jakarta Pilkada in 2024. However, his position as a candidate for Deputy Governor of DKI is like his current position.

"If I am elected as deputy governor for 2.5 years, in the future if I can carry out my duties well, I am ready to become deputy governor again", said Riza at the DKI Regional House of Representatives Building, Wednesday, January 5.

By returning to being the Deputy Governor of DKI, Riza sees himself as able to continue his work in developing Jakarta.

"My goal is that we can maintain a better performance in DKI Jakarta so that we can become a more conducive political situation", said Riza.

However, the chairman of the Gerindra DKI Regional Representative Council emphasized that the 2024 Pilkada is still too far to be discussed now.

Riza admitted that he still wants to focus on completing the tasks set out in the DKI Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) for 2017-2022.

"I want to work to carry out the task of helping the Governor ensure that the 2017-2022 RPJMD is carried out properly. If we have thought about 2024, later the work will be 2024, not carrying out tasks by the RPJMD", he explained.

In this regard, previously Deputy Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta Regional House of Representatives, Mohamad Taufik, highlighted several suitable figures to replace Anies to lead Jakarta.

"I personally think that it is necessary to make an inventory of the figures who will lead Jakarta. I will suggest to the Regional Representative Council as soon as possible", said Taufik.

Taufik mentioned several names, including the former Mayor of South Tangerang, Airin Rachmi Diany; DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan; Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria; Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia; former Deputy Chairman of the BPK, Bahrullah Akbar; to Member of Indonesian Regional Representative Council, Sylviana Murni.

"There is Mr. Deputy Governor, who has been Deputy Governor. Mr. Anies may still have a chance. There are other figures like Airin who I think have succeeded in leading South Tangerang. There are others, for example, Brother Bahlil", he explained.
