Nemangkawi Operation 2022 Promotes Welfare Approach

JAKARTA - Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, said that Operation Nemangkawi 2022 applies a way of acting with a welfare approach.

The National Police has extended the validity period of Operation Nemangkawi until January 25, 2022.

"Operations will be carried out by acting and targeting operations in different areas," said Ramadhan at the National Police Headquarters, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 4.

According to Ramadhan, currently the task force (satgas) is making preparations with operations that take an approach to welfare.

This approach to welfare is based on the results of the analysis and evaluation carried out by the National Police and the TNI after the Phase II Nemangkawi Task Force Operation ended December 31, 2021.

"Hopefully there will be no more victims of violence," said Ramadhan.

How to act with this welfare approach, the Nemangkawi Operations Task Force prioritizes preventive and preemptive efforts. Optimizing Binmas Noken and community empowerment programs.

Ramadhan said Operation Nemangkawi was prepared to become a regional operation under the command of the Papuan Police Chief.

Despite being a regional operation, there will be no withdrawal of Polri personnel sent to Papua.

"Operation Nemangkawi 2022 is the task force at the regional police. Of course it gets a "back up" from the National Police Headquarters," said Ramadhan.

Previously, in a release at the end of 2021, Friday (12/31), the National Police had carried out 276 police operations including six centralized operations and 270 regional operations.

Two important operations include Operation Nemangkawi Papua stages I and II. From this operation, 27 people who are members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) have been arrested.

In addition, the National Police also succeeded in bringing 53 members and sympathizers of the KKB to surrender to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

The National Police conduct operations with an approach that focuses on more persuasive humanist courts or "soft opproach" in Papua, through the Bimas Noken program, the Tifa program or traditional understanding, and the Kaswari program.

In these programs, members of the National Police cooperate with relevant ministries to help provide counseling and help improve the welfare of the Papuan people.
