JAKARTA - The traffic light at the intersection of four Kapuas Hulu Police, Putussibau, West Kalimantan, has not worked since it was built in 2016. The condition of the traffic light, which has never been used since it was built six years ago, has instead become the subject of frequent gossip from the local community.

"Traffic lights are the authority of the province, we have often suggested that they be used and according to information there is damage", said Head of the Road Transport Traffic Division of the Kapuas Hulu Transportation Service, M Bessiar, in Putussibau, Kapuas Hulu, Tuesday, January 4. Antara.

Referring to information from the Transportation Service of West Kalimantan Province, the traffic light was damaged on the timer module and it is planned that the first level officer will repair it.

According to him, the Kapuas Hulu Transportation Service will only accept a traffic light grant if the damage has been repaired by the West Kalimantan Transportation Service.

"Actually, they wanted to hand it over to us, but because there was damage, we didn't want to accept it first, until they repaired the damage", said Bessiar.

He hopes that the West Kalimantan Transportation Service through the Transportation Center will immediately repair it so that the traffic lights can be used immediately.

"What is quite vulnerable is traffic activity in the morning because it is quite congested, so it is necessary to use the traffic lights", he said.

He also said that the Kapuas Hulu Transportation Service would propose the installation of traffic lights at several points, including at the Kapuas Bridge church intersection, Darussalam intersection, prison intersection, Melapi intersection and at the Putussibau Pancasila Monument roundabout.

"We will indeed propose the installation of traffic lights at several points in Putussibau City and its surroundings, but we will first conduct a vehicle volume test, because for national roads, the authority is not ours in the regions, we are only limited to proposing", he said.

So regarding the traffic lights, Bessiar admitted that he would coordinate with the Transportation Agency or the West Kalimantan Transportation Service.
