Hit The Prohibition To Abroad, Secretary General Of The DPR Ensures Members Of The Special Committee For IKN Undertake Quarantine From Kazakhstan

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appealed to the entire community, including government officials, not to go abroad to anticipate the spread of Omicron. The same thing was done by the Deliberative Body (Bamus) of the DPR, which postponed the entire agenda of services abroad. However, this rule does not appear to be enforced. The reason is, one ministry group actually continues to visit Kazakhstan for a comparative study on the relocation of the State Capital.

It is the Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN)/Bappenas with members of the House of Representatives (DPR) who are the Special Committee on Draft Laws (RUU) for the State Capital (IKN). The Secretary General of the DPR, Indra Iskandar, confirmed that there were DPR members in the group. According to Indra, only three members of the DPR have complied with Bappenas' invitation. They are; Chairman of the Special Committee for the Draft Law on the State Capital (RUU IKN) Ahmad Doli Kurnia, as well as two of its members; Achmad Baidowi and Yanuar Prihatin.

Indra said that the visit to Kazakhstan took place from Sunday, January 2, to Wednesday, January 5. Although confirming, Indra said, this is not the agenda of the DPR, but Bappenas.

"DPR went there (Kazakhstan) at the invitation of the government, it's not a work visit agenda," said Indra, Tuesday, January 4.

Even so, Indra ensured that after returning from Kazakhstan, all council members would follow quarantine procedures. He said the DPR would comply with all provisions made by the government. Previously, the DPR RI leadership explained the news about the IKN Special Committee visiting Kazakhstan when the DPR RI Deliberative Body (Bamus) decided to postpone the council's visit abroad because of the Omicron variant.

"So, there is a decision from the Bamus that was conveyed at the plenary session that the DPR postpones all overseas visits, except for two things in the Bamus," said Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad at the DPR Building, Monday, January 3.

First, said Dasco, when the Indonesian parliament in an event must present a material. Second, visits by officials who carry out important state duties cannot be represented.

"With protocols, limited numbers, and strict protocols. The DPR is accompanying in this case together with Bappenas to go to study in Kazakhstan, which has also moved its capital," he explained.

Dasco explained that of the 56 members of the Special Committee for the IKN Bill that were passed in the plenary session, there were 30 permanent members and 26 substitute members. Dasco said that only 5 people left for Kazakhstan.

"So, together with Bappenas, only 5 departed," he said.
