PUPR Permak For The Lasem Heritage Area, Minister Basuki: Famous City Of Tolerance, Pay Attention To Details For Neat Results

JAKARTA - Last Sunday, January 2, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono reviewed the arrangement of the Lasem heritage area in Rembang Regency, Central Java. Minister Basuki said Lasem was known as a historical area with various cultural blends that became a symbol of tolerance or the diversity of the archipelago.

"The Lasem heritage area structuring program aims to maintain tolerance. Lasem is already known to be a city of tolerance, both religiously and ethnically. This is what prompted us at the PUPR Ministry to create a regional structuring program in Lasem," Minister Basuki was quoted as saying on the ministry's official website. .

Minister Basuki said that the arrangement of the Lasem Heritage City must be carried out carefully and carefully, both in terms of structure and aesthetic value.

"This is an art work, so you have to be careful. Pay attention to the details of each work so that the results are neat according to the design," said Minister Basuki.

Minister Basuki added that from the results of the review, he had instructed the Central Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) so that the pedestrians of Jalan Daendels in the Lasem heritage area would also be arranged.

"So that the face of the Lasem area can change for the better and be thick with existing historical values," he said.

Currently the construction progress is 30 percent with the scope of structuring the area, such as the square, the construction of the Lasem Market, the rehabilitation of the Jami' Mosque, and the arrangement of pedestrian roads. It is targeted that by August 2022, all work can be completed.

Minister Basuki stated that in structuring the Lasem heritage area, the PUPR Ministry coordinated with the Central Java Provincial Government and Rembang Regency, as well as Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives Muhammad Arwani Thomafi. Deputy Chairman of Commission V DPR RI Muhammad Arwani Thomafi said he was ready to oversee the Lasem heritage area arrangement program so that it could run well.

"As the Minister of PUPR said, this is a program with an artistic perspective, so it really must be carried out properly. The final output is directed at how to improve the welfare of the Lasem people," he said.

The arrangement of the Lasem Heritage Area will begin for 360 calendar days from the contract date of August 24, 2021 and is planned to be completed on August 18, 2022.

The concept of structuring the area continues to protect building elements that have historical value comprehensively by adjusting to environmental harmony and maintaining local wisdom.

The budget for the arrangement of the heritage area is IDR 88.13 billion which will be implemented on a Multi Years Contract (MYC) 2021-2022 with the implementing contractor PT. Putera Jaya Andalan and PT. Yodya Karya (Persero) Region I as Construction Management and supervised by the Central Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) Directorate General of Human Settlements, Ministry of PUPR.
