High Rainfall Predicted In 2022, BPBD Lebak Urges Motorbike Drivers To Be Alert For Landslides

LEBAK - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lebak Regency, Banten Province appealed to drivers of two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles to be aware of the threat of landslides and fallen trees on a number of roads.

This warning was given following the predicted increase in rainfall in early 2022. "The warning is for the alert to reduce the risk of disaster," said Head of BPBD Lebak Regency Febby Rizky Pratama in Lebak, Antara, Saturday, January 1.

Bad weather at the turn of the 2022 New Year has the potential to cause natural disasters considering that the Lebak Regency area has mountains, hills and river flows.

Chances of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning strikes have the potential to occur in the afternoon, evening and night. Therefore, the Lebak BPBD asked motorists to avoid roads that cross mountains and hills.

Currently, he said, the road that connects the sub-districts in Lebak Regency is prone to natural disasters. These include the Rangkasbitung-Malingping, Rangkasbitung-Muncang and Cipanas-Warrant Banten roads. The road section is Cimarga - Leuwidamar - Bojongmanik - Cirinten - Gunung Kencana - Muncang - Sobang.

"We ask motorcyclists and private cars if heavy rain is accompanied by strong winds and lightning strikes, it is better to stop the journey to avoid the natural disaster," he said.
