Jokowi Celebrates New Year's Eve At Bogor Palace With Family, Ma'ruf Amin Holds Joint Prayer

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo will celebrate New Year's Eve at the Bogor Palace, West Java. This was conveyed by the Head of the Presidential Secretariat (Kasetpres) Heru Budi Hartono.

Heru said that the former governor of DKI Jakarta did not hold a special event on New Year's Eve. Jokowi, said Heru, will only spend New Year's Eve with his family at the Bogor Palace.

"(New Year's Eve, ed) at (Palace, ed) Bogor. Yes (with family, ed), and there is no special event," Heru told reporters, Friday, December 31.

Meanwhile, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin will celebrate New Year's Eve and will hold a prayer together or istigasah with his family.

"The vice president's event on New Year's Eve, istighosah or prayers with the family," said Vice President Spokesperson Masduki Baidlowi to reporters. Masduki stated that Ma'ruf did not travel after the new year. The former PBNU Rais Aam, he continued, will only exercise and care for plants on Saturday, January 1.

"Saturday morning the vice president does regular exercise, after that he takes care of plants as a hobby, which is often done in the morning and in his spare time," he said.

For information, the government urges the public to celebrate New Year's Eve with their families in their respective homes. The government does not allow celebrations or processions that trigger crowds.

This policy is intended to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the spike in cases after the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holidays.
