Landslide Prone, Tourists Or Cianjur Residents Are Asked To Be Alert When Passing On The Talegong-Rancabuaya Road

CIANJUIR - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Garut Regency, West Java appealed to motorists traveling to fill the 2022 New Year holiday to be aware of landslide-prone lanes when it rains.

"Yes, there are several paths that are prone to landslides, especially in the southern region of Garut when the rainfall intensity is high," said Head of the Garut Regency BPBD Satria Budi in Garut, quoted from Antara, Friday, December 31.

Garut Regency is an area prone to natural disasters during the rainy season, such as landslides, fallen trees, and floods. Especially the dangers on the main roads of Garut such as in Cisewu, Talegong, Bungbulang, Cikajang and a number of other sub-districts are landslides and fallen trees.

"The Talegong to Rancabuaya road needs to be watched out for, especially a few days ago there was a landslide in that area," he said.

He conveyed that people who want to travel to tourist attractions during the new year holiday season to the southern region should pay attention to weather conditions.

If it rains heavily, he said, you should stop at a safe place such as a shop or a resident's house that is safe from the danger of landslides until the rain stops.

"If it rains heavily, you should stop first, find a safe place, don't continue the journey because it is risky," he said.

In addition to the threat of disaster on the highway, said Satria, another threat is at the beach and mountain tourist attractions.

He appealed to tourists not to swim in dangerous coastal areas, especially when the waves were high. In addition, tourists visiting the mountain should not approach the crater.

"For those who travel to the sea, don't swim when the waves are big, don't go near the crater," he said.
