JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, said that the child vaccination program is a priority for the government. This program is carried out to accelerate school activities, especially face-to-face learning. The government targets the COVID-19 vaccination specifically for children 6-11 years old to be completed in the first quarter of 2022.

"This is a priority for the government, then education and school face-to-face meetings will be conditioned according to the situation and conditions at school and we will continue to accelerate it," said Airlangga while reviewing the Child Vaccination Program at SDN 05 Kemanggisan, West Jakarta, Friday (31/12).

The Chairperson of the Covid-19 Handling Committee and National Economic Recovery (KPC-PEN) Airlangga said in his review, the government's child vaccination program is targeted to be completed in the first quarter of 2022, the vaccination program for children 6-11 years old is the First Dose vaccination program and is the first vaccination program for children. a must for society.

"The participation of children started a few days ago and is targeted to be completed in the first quarter (Q1) of next year," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto.

Airlangga said that he would continue to expand and accelerate vaccination coverage, including for children, which would encourage the achievement of herd immunity.

The chairman of the Golkar Party also said that efforts to accelerate and expand vaccination for children 6-11 years old require the collaboration of all parties, from the central government, regional governments, schools, media, and of course parents.

"We congratulate SDN 05 Kemanggisan for providing vaccines for children and will cover a number of other schools and all of them will be vaccinated in collaboration with the Yellow Clinic," he said.

"We see that our vaccination achievement is already above 70 percent nationally and the second dose is already above 50 percent above the national level," he explained.

Furthermore, it was also mentioned that the target of the children's vaccination program is to create child immunity in dealing with especially the new variant of omicron.

"So vaccination is a must, so we continue to accelerate and expand vaccination coverage, including for children, which will encourage the achievement of herd immunity in Indonesia," Airlangga concluded.
