BNN Says Narcotics Smuggling In Indonesia Is Dominated By Sea

JAKARTA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia destroyed 164.19 kg of crystal methamphetamine and 4,250 ml of precursors or chemicals used in the manufacture of narcotics and psychotropic substances.

Main Secretary of BNN I Wayan Sukawinaya said the destruction of narcotic evidence was a form of BNN transparency to the public in handling narcotics cases.

"BNN destroyed all evidence from eight disclosure cases, namely the case of methamphetamine on a ship in the Riau Islands with 2.18 kilograms of evidence," Sukawinaya said in Jakarta, Thursday, December 30.

Then, the case of the Clandestine Laboratory (a dark laboratory) in Medan with evidence of crystal methamphetamine weighing 674.96 grams and 4,250 ml of precursor.

Furthermore, the case of methamphetamine on the Madura-West Jakarta network which was arrested at the Palimanan toll gate with 7.81 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine as evidence.

Then, the disclosure of the shabu-shabu case in Matraman, East Jakarta with shabu weighing 27.04 grams.

Then, the case of methamphetamine on the roof of the bus which was secured on November 11, 2021 in Palembang, South Sumatra with 16.09 kilograms of evidence.

In addition, three other narcotics trafficking cases were cases of methamphetamine in Parung, Bogor Regency, West Java with 503.3 grams of evidence.

Furthermore, the disclosure in the Bireun area of Aceh Province with 103.3 kilograms of evidence, and the disclosure in Langsa, East Aceh Regency, Aceh Province with 33.80 kilograms of evidence.

He said that from the disclosure of the 8 cases, his party established 19 suspects who have now been detained at the BNN detention center.

Sukawinaya stated that in the future his party will try to prevent the entry of these illicit goods into Indonesia.

He said that his party had studied the modus operandi of the syndicates who imported drugs by sea in the Aceh region.

"Hopefully next year, with various strategies carried out by the head of BNN, because there is already a War on Drugs, in terms of soft power, hard power, smart power, there will be fewer goods entering Indonesia," he said.
