2 Fishermen Missing 5 Days In Situbondo Waters Found In South Sulawesi, Admitted Suddenly Blind In The Middle Of The Ocean

SITUBONDO - Two fishermen from Situbondo and Banyuwangi who were previously reported missing in the waters of Situbondo, East Java, have finally been found.

Ponirin (50) and Taufik (50) were found safe after being adrift for 5 days on an island in South Sulawesi, Thursday, December 30.

The owner of the boat, Masruri, said the whereabouts of the two were known after a resident from Lombok informed the two fishermen who had brought the boat stranded at his relative's house in Sulawesi.

"At that time I was looking for Celukan Bawang. At that time I received news from Lombok residents that there were two fishermen who were stranded at their relative's house in Sulawesi," said Masruri, Thursday, December 30.

Masruri was immediately connected to the two fishermen via telephone. According to him, in the middle of the sea, the two fishermen suddenly lost their way. Because the fuel is running low, the two of them choose to pull over on the island.

"There was no damage to the ship. Both admitted that they were blind and the gas was running low as a result they chose to pull over on the island," he said.

According to Masruri, the two fishermen admitted that they still did not dare to go home because the weather was still not supportive.

"I asked the two of them not yet daring to go home because the waves and the weather were still not suitable for sailing. Luckily they were there with the help of residents, so everything was still safe," he concluded.

For information, the disappearance of the two fishermen had caused a stir in the family and residents of Situbondo. The two of them lost contact while looking for fish in the Situbondo waters.

Usually they go to sea for only one day, they do not return for five days and there is no news. The SAR team even had to intervene to find the whereabouts of the two fishermen.
