JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained Alfred Simanjuntak (AS) who is a suspect in the alleged bribery case related to the 2016 and 2017 tax audits at the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT).

Alfred is the Head of the Audit Team at the Directorate of Audit and Collection at the DGT or currently serves as the Tax Auditor Functional at the West Java II Regional Tax Office.

"Today, we will convey information regarding the detention of the US suspect in the case of alleged corruption in the form of receiving gifts or promises related to the 2016 and 2017 tax audits at the Directorate General of Taxes," said KPK Investigation Director Setyo Budiyanto during a press conference at the KPK Building, Jakarta, Antara, Monday, December 27.

The suspect Alfred was detained for the first 20 days from 27 December 2021 to 15 January 2022.

"So that the investigation process can be completed immediately, the investigative team made efforts to forcibly detain the US suspect for the first 20 days starting from December 27, 2021 to January 15, 2022 at the East Jakarta Metro Police Detention Center," said Setyo.

Last November, the KPK appointed Alfred and Wawan Ridwan (WR) as the Supervisor of the Tax Auditor Team at the Directorate of Audit and Collection at the DGT as new suspects in the case.

The KPK has detained suspect Wawan since Thursday, November 11. Meanwhile, Alfred was not arrested at that time.

Alferd is suspected of violating Article 12 letter a or Article 12 letter b or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) the 1st KUHP.
