MATARAM - The Office of the Ministry of Religion of Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara Province, has distributed parental approval letters for the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 6-11 years through madrasas and Islamic boarding schools.
"This parental approval letter is part of the socialization of COVID-19 vaccination activities for children aged 6-11 years which will be carried out starting January 4, 2022," said Head of the Mataram City Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) HM Amin in Mataram as quoted by Antara, Monday, 27 December.
Amin mentioned, the number of public/private Islamic Islamic schools (MI) and Islamic boarding schools throughout the city of Mataram who will be the target of COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 6-11 years is around 7,000 students.
To support the safe and smooth operation of COVID-19 vaccination activities for children aged 6-11 years, in the parental approval letter, it was also stated that parents should provide assistance to their son/daughter when administering COVID-19 vaccinations in each madrasa and boarding school.
Therefore, according to the results of the meeting to prepare for the COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 6-11 years with the Mataram City Health Office (Dinkes) and other relevant parties, the vaccination team must ensure the schedule and availability of doses for students.
"The dose available every day for students in one madrasa must be ensured to be sufficient so that it does not run out in the middle of the road. If it runs out, it is difficult for parents to come again the next day," he said.
While alluding to if there are parents who do not give permission for their children to be vaccinated, Amin has asked the madrasa principal to take an approach to convince parents of students.
"After vaccination activities for children aged 6-11 years, we will carry out face-to-face learning (PTM) in full. Full PTM safety and comfort in the midst of a pandemic can be created if teachers and students are vaccinated," he said.
