58 Prisoners In Class 1 Central Jakarta Prison And 93 Prisoners In Class IIA Salemba Prison Receive Christmas Remission

JAKARTA - A total of 58 Prisoners (WBP) or inmates of the Class 1 Central Jakarta State Detention Center (Rutan) will get 1 Special Remission on Christmas Day celebrations, Saturday, December 25.

"The inmates have met the requirements for the special remission proposal and are declared to be of good behavior and play an active role in the Central Jakarta Class 1 detention program," said Head of the Class 1 Central Jakarta Detention Center Fonika Affandi when contacted by VOI, Friday, December 24, evening.

As is known, the residents of the Class 1 detention center in Central Jakarta are 3,545 people, with details 1,615 prisoners and 1,930 prisoners.

Of the 3,545 people, it is known that there are 379 Christian prisoners of WBP, consisting of 155 prisoners and 224 prisoners.

"The percentage of prisoners who receive remission as much as 37% is expected to be a stimulus for other inmates to behave well," he said.

Fonika said that granting remissions or reducing criminal periods to prisoners had met the administrative and substantive requirements according to Law no. 12 of 1995 concerning Corrections and Presidential Decree No. 174 of 1999 concerning Remissions, Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 28 of 2006 concerning Amendments to Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 32 of 1999 concerning Conditions and Procedures for the Implementation of the Rights of Correctional Inmates and others.

Meanwhile, at the Class IIA Salemba Correctional Institution, as many as 93 inmates received a special Christmas remission.

The head of the Salemba Prison, Yosafat Rizanto, said that there were 132 inmates who were Christians in Salemba Prison.

"Of the 132 WBP who received special remission, only 93 people were," he said when contacted by reporters, Friday, December 24, evening.

Kalapas ensures that the granting of remissions is carried out selectively and transparently through the Correctional Database System (SDP). The granting of remissions to inmates at the Salemba Prison is a manifestation of the promotion and protection of human rights.

"The granting of remissions is to realize the goals of the correctional system. In addition, the granting of remissions is a form of state appreciation for the inmates for successfully demonstrating behavioral changes and improving self-quality while in prison," he said.
