He conveyed that this was related to the granting of special remissions for the 2021 Christmas Day to inmates in Atambua Prison, Belu Regency which is directly adjacent to Timor Leste.

Edward Hadi explained that the inmates who received a special Christmas remission consisted of 135 people who received a Special Remission of One (RK I) or a reduction in part of their criminal period. Meanwhile, one inmates received Special Remission Two (RK. II) or immediately freed from the criminal sentence.

Edward Hadi explained that the special Christmas remission was given to prisoners who had met the administrative and substantive requirements according to the legislation.

He hopes that this remission can make inmates celebrate Christmas with full of joy and increase their faith so that after their release they will avoid acts against the law.

"This remission is also expected to be a motivation and encourage inmates to be able to behave well while serving a criminal period," he said.

Touching on the celebration of Christmas Day, Edward Hadi said the inmates also celebrated it by attending Christmas Mass celebrations in prisons which were held twice, namely today and Saturday, December 25.
