Anticipating The Spike In Omicron Cases, Persahabatan Hospital Prepares BOR And Patient Handling Guidelines

JAKARTA - Persahabatan General Hospital (RSUP) Jakarta has prepared bed occupancy (BOR) in the event of a spike in cases of the Omicron variant in Indonesia during Christmas and the upcoming New Year.

The President Director of the Friendship Hospital, Agus Dwi Susanto, said that the Friendship Hospital in dealing with the Christmas and New Year's BOR had prepared in case of a spike in cases. His party claimed to have prepared the steps and the availability of medicine, infrastructure, and sufficient personal protective equipment (PPE) for the next 3 months.

"Preparation of drugs and medical infrastructure and PPE, so far we will evaluate the existing capacity. Our medicine, infrastructure, and PPE are sufficient for the next three months," he told VOI, Friday, December 24.

Anticipating a spike in COVID-19 at Christmas and New Year's, Friendship Hospital has made guidelines for medical personnel to be appropriate in handling if there are indications that a patient has been exposed to Omicron.

"Until today, there is no Omicron at the Persahabatan Hospital. But we have also made guidelines for samples suspected of Omicron so that there is a flow when we suspect a case can be examined," he said.

Several steps have been prepared by Friendship Hospital when there is a spike in COVID-19, namely, regulating the flow in the Emergency Unit (ER) through several stages of gradually increasing capacity for COVID-19 from now on. Then it increases to 50 percent, then 100 percent fully becomes COVID-19 if there is a spike in cases.

"We are converting beds in stages until stage four. The four stages are about 80 percent of our total capacity to be able to accommodate COVID-19. Overall we are also ready to reach 100 percent around 285 bets," he said.

In addition, general practitioners, specialists, nurses, and non-health workers (nakes) human resources have been prepared to carry out internal mobilization in stages.

"If the existing capacity still requires additional human resources and the internal mobilization is not sufficient, we will add volunteers. If there really is an increase in cases like last July," he said.
