Jokowi's 'Liar Figure Has Been Fired' Speech Becomes A Way Of Leading PSI To Get Rid Of Politics, But...

JAKARTA - PSI DPP General Chair Giring Ganesha alluded to a liar and had been fired by President Jokowi in his speech for PSI's 7th Anniversary. This statement caused reactions from various parties.

Although not named, the figure Giring insinuated is referring to the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan. Remember, Anies was Minister of Education and Culture, before being replaced by Jokowi.

Pangi Syarwi Chaniago, a political observer from the Voxpol Center Research and Consulting, said that this statement was deliberately made by Giring to raise his name as a political figure.

"That's one of the designs for him to enlarge his popularity bubble as the chairman of PSI. If his speech is flat, it won't be long remembered and won't be memorable and won't get the public's attention," Pangi said when contacted, Friday, December 24.

However, if the target of Giring's satire was Anies, Pangi thought that this could actually increase Anies' popularity because it became a public discussion.

"This statement is actually the same as raising Anies, because Anies will be included in the discussion of public opinion. Both will get it, Anies is getting attacked the bigger his popularity bubble is, Giring is also getting elected because people are curious about who Giring is," explained Pangi.

Previously, Giring stated that Indonesia's progress would be threatened if in the future the person who replaced Jokowi was someone who had a track record of using SARA issues and justifying any means to win the Pilkada.

"Indonesia will be gloomy if those who are elected later are liars and have also been fired by Pak Jokowi because they are incompetent at work," said Giring Giring in a speech at the summit of PSI's 7th anniversary event in Jakarta which was also attended by President Jokowi.

Therefore, continued Giring, all PSI administrators and cadres will fight hard so that those who will be elected to replace Jokowi are people who are committed to continuing the work that Jokowi has done.

"PSI wants to draw a firm line, not compromise with people who justify any means, including using religion, flirting with intolerant groups, using verses to bring down political opponents," continued Giring.
