32 Elementary-Junior High School Principals In Mataram City Are Empty, Disdik Busy Making Selections

MATARAM - The Mataram City Government, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB) is expected to immediately fill the 32 positions of principals at the elementary and junior high school levels throughout the city of Mataram that are vacant because the previous officials entered retirement and transfer periods.

Head of the Mataram City Education Office, H Lalu Fatwir Uzali, said that the 32 vacant principal positions included 26 principals at the elementary school level and the rest at the junior high school level.

"To recruit competent school principals, we have conducted a selection of (capable) principals so that hopefully this week the principals who are judged to have the appropriate competencies can be sworn in immediately," he said in Mataram, Antara, Thursday, December 23.

The vacancies of tens of school principal positions are temporarily held by the Acting Officer (Plt), from supervision there are even those who directly hold the Head of the Mataram City Education Office.

It is hoped that within this week prospective principals should be sworn in so that the vacancies of principals in both elementary and junior high schools can be filled and school programs can focus on implementing them.

"We have proposed the inauguration immediately, so that once the children enter the even semester of January 3, 2022, all 32 schools already have a definitive principal," he said.

According to him, the placement of school principals is seen from work performance as a teacher, competency assessment, work that has been done during education and training. On the other hand, Fatwir said, in the provisions, the position of principal is a maximum of two terms or for eight years.

However, at this time he admitted that there were principals who served before the two terms had been moved and vice versa there were also those who had more than two terms.

This condition occurs purely out of necessity. That is, if there are principals who are transferred before the two periods because their work and competencies are needed in other schools.

"Meanwhile, the principal has served more than two terms, because their competence is indeed needed at the school," said Fatwir.
