Uncle And Nephew In Ternate Disappear At Sea, Joint Team Deployed To Explore Hiri Island Area

TERNATE - The Ternate Basarnas Search and Rescue Office, North Maluku (Malut) together with a joint SAR team conducted a search for two fishermen from Ternate City who were reported missing between Hiri Island and Ternate. The two fishermen are his uncle and nephew, Syaiful (51) and Agus (10).

"It was reported that two residents of Salero, Ternate City had not returned from fishing since Wednesday, December 22, 2021, and the report received immediately dispatched personnel to conduct a search," said Head of the Ternate Basarnas, Muhammad Arafah in Ternate, Antara, Thursday, December 23.

Based on information from the victim's family, the two went fishing using a longboat around the Northwest waters of Ternate's Hiri Island. However, until this afternoon the victim and his nephew had not returned home.

Currently the Ternate Basarnas Rescue Team together with joint elements are moving towards the suspected LKP to conduct a search operation using RIB 02.

Meanwhile, in a separate place, the joint SAR Team and the Galela community, North Halmahera (Halut) Regency two or three days ago managed to find M Bahrun (57), a resident of Soasio Village who had disappeared on the Tiabo Galela River while at sea.

Muhamad Arafah said the victim was found in the SAR operation on the third day and the search which started at 07.30 WIT finally yielded results, where, at around 12.30 WIT the victim was found dead by the Ground SRU at coordinates 1.02 Km/Radian 123.22° from LKP. , then the victim was taken to the village of Soasio Galela.

So, at 13.30 WIT, the joint SAR team arrived in Soasio Galela Village and immediately handed over the victim to the family while carrying out debreafing.

Therefore, with the discovery of the victim, the SAR operation was closed with the result that a victim was found dead and all the elements involved were returned to their respective units.
