JAKARTA - The Jambi Regional Police (Polda) has prohibited crowd activities in public spaces to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in Jambi Province during the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year celebrations.

"This rule is enforced in accordance with the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 66 of 2021 which regulates the prevention and control of the coronavirus disease 19 at Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022, with no crowd activities," said Head of Ops Bureau of Jambi Police, Grand Commissioner Pol Feri Handoko, told the media in Jambi, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, December 21.

He mentioned that to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) was also implemented from December 24, 2021 - January 2, 2022.

During the implementation of the PPKM, his party reactivated the COVID-19 Task Force so that monitoring was carried out in places with the potential for crowds such as tourist attractions and shopping centers.

"Health protocols are tightened, supermarkets and other public spaces are expected to maximize the Peduli Protect application for visitors and operating hours are only extended to 10 pm," said Pol Grand Commissioner Feri Handoko.

In the celebration of Christmas 2021 and New Year's 2022, activities that have the potential to cause crowds are limited, such as banning celebrations, reducing loudspeakers, and limiting event space to a maximum capacity of 75 percent.

"I urge the celebration of Christmas 2021 and New Year's 2022, it should be carried out with family at home and don't go out, avoid crowds, don't carry out convoys or vehicle parades, don't have events that can cause crowds," said Feri again.

Meanwhile, ASN should not go home during Christmas or New Year celebrations and in the meantime, according to the Circular (SE) of the Minister of Religion Number 33 of 2021 at the Nataru celebration to tighten Health Protocol in places of worship and form a COVID-19 Task Force to monitor.

Then for people who carry out worship, it should be done simply and use an open place. Congregations are limited to only 50 percent of the capacity of the venue and operating hours are limited to 22.00 western Indonesia time.

"I appeal to the church to prepare the Protect Application, regulate the flow of congregational mobility, regulate the distance of the congregation, provide health care facilities and most importantly use masks and provide hand washing facilities or hand sanitizers, and have good air circulation to prevent the spread of COVID-19," said Grand Commissioner Feri Handoko.
