Stepanus Robin Pattuju's Intention To Throw Lili Pintauli To Prison Is Considered To Cover Azis Syamsuddin's Acts

JAKARTA - Former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) promised to dismantle the role of Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Lili Pintauli Siregar. However, this statement is considered as an attempt to cover up the role of former Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Azis Syamsuddin, in the alleged management of corruption cases at the anti-corruption commission.

When reading his plea or defense at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Stepanus, who is a defendant in the case management case at the KPK, said he would reveal Lili's role with a lawyer named Arief Aceh. This is done as an effort so that his application to become a justice collaborator can be approved.

"I need to reiterate my request for justice collaborator, I will dismantle the role of the KPK Commissioner Mrs. Lili Pintauli Siregar and lawyer Arief Aceh," said Stepanus while reading his plenary, Monday, December 20.

For information, in this case, the name Lili often appears because she once suggested the former Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial to contact a lawyer named Arief Aceh. This suggestion was given after Syahrial's name appeared in the alleged bribery of buying and selling positions.

It didn't stop there, Stepanus returned to reveal Lili's role in another case being handled by the KPK. He even said his former leader should go to jail.

"I will dismantle, I will dismantle several cases involving her (Lili Pintauli, ed). I will unload, she must go to prison," he said after undergoing trial.

All the words of Stepanus, who was the recipient of bribes from a number of litigants at the KPK, then received a response from the anti-corruption commission. Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, suspects that Stepanus' statement has other intentions.

One of them is to cover up the role of Azis Syamsuddin, who is currently sitting as a defendant for giving bribes to him. Moreover, so far, Stepanus has never admitted to giving money from the former deputy chairman of the Golkar Party to secure his name in the bribery case for the administration of the Central Lampung Special Allocation Fund (DAK).

"Stepanus Robin Pattuju during the trial did not admit that he accepted a sum of money and was suspected of deliberately covering up the role of Azis Syamsuddin," Ali told reporters, Monday, December 20.

Moreover, according to Ali, Stepanus made this statement outside the court so that it could not be proven. In fact, such things should be presented in court so that it can be proven.

"Stepanus Robin Pattuju should not only be delivered outside the court, because of course, but this also has no evidentiary value," he said.

Not only that, all statements about Lili's involvement were not heard directly by Stepanus but through other parties or testimonials de auditu. Even if there was communication between Lili and M Syahrial, this matter was not followed up either.

The reason is that in managing the case, Syahrial did not use the name of the lawyer suggested by Lili, namely Arief Aceh. "The fact at trial was that the defendant Stepanus Robin Pattuju did not accommodate M Syahrial's desire to use the services of Arief Aceh, who was meant as a legal counsel," said Ali.

Therefore, all statements of Stepanus outside the agenda of the trial, the KPK emphasized that would not mean anything. Moreover, the KPK is currently confident in the evidence held by its prosecutors.

"KPK is very confident in the evidence related to the close cooperation between Stepanus Robin Pattuju, Azis Syamsuddin, M Syahrial, and Maskur Husein and the prosecutor team will prove this before the trial," concluded Ali.
